ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Olivia
Hello! My name is Olivia Taylor and I'm a senior at UMass Boston, majoring in Communication and minoring in Public Policy. Volunteering has been my passion since I was 16 years old, and was the first activity I sought out and engaged in completely on my own. I have mainly volunteered with causes supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, children (especially in under-resourced communities), education and literacy, empowerment of women and girls, and animal welfare.
My most recent volunteer work has been as the fundraising manager, newsletter developer, and graphic designer for Ruff Tales Rescue, and as a mentor (2 years strong), site leader, and fundraising coordinator for Strong Women, Strong Girls at UMass Boston. Next semester I will take on the role of public relations for the latter organization.
I have been a guest speaker promoting volunteerism at SWSG's "Save the World!" field trip, and UMass Boston's annual Day of Service, as well as serving as a panelist for SWSG's women's panel on the road to equality for women around the world.
This semester I also attended the Impact Conference at UMass Amherst, and was nominated for a Beacon Individual Service Award.
Volunteering has been the most fulfilling, worthwhile part of my experience on this planet in my 22 years of life thus far, and the impact I've seen it have on my community and the people around me has led me to become a huge advocate for volunteerism.
